Myocarditis in the pediatric population is commonly caused by viral pathogens, notably entero virus and adeno virus. Respiratory syncytial virus, although widespread among this population, is rarely associated with myocarditis. The incidence of myocarditis is unknown due to the variability of clinical presentation and diagnostic limitations. Data regarding prognosis is lacking in children. Patients should be monitored in a pediatric intensive care unit secondary to the risk of hemodynamic compromise. We present the case of fulminant myocarditis in a seven-month old female in the setting of respiratory syncytial virus bronchiolitis. More Details:Myocarditis in the Setting of RSV Bronchiolitis |
