![]() Heart rate limitation and cardiac unloading in sevoflurane post‐conditioning
JR Larsen, K Sivesgaard... - Acta ..., 2012 - Wiley Online Library Background Sevoflurane post-conditioning (Se Post) has been found to alleviate ischemic myocardial reperfusion injury through the activation of prosurvival kinases. Lowered myocardial oxygen demand from reduced cardiac work may also contribute to ... At baseline, there were no significant differences in functional measurements between groups (Table 2), with the exception of mixed venous hemoglobin saturation (Sv O2), which was lower in group Se Post than in ctrl (P = 0.014). We have no explanation for this, although core body temperature was higher in Se Post (ns). All hemodynamic variables were changed during the course of the experiment as a consequence of both ischemia and reperfusion, but there were no differences between the groups up until reperfusion onset. Selected variables are depicted in Fig. 3A F and differences are summarized in Table 1. Beginning and lasting throughout reperfusion, HR and Sv O2 were lower in group Se Post than in ctrl. Aorta pressure (MAP) was higher in group Se Post during ischemia (ns) but lower during reperfusion (ns); however, univariate repeated measures ANOVA showed that group time interaction for these pressure curves were not identical (P = 0.0005) but were, in fact, crossing over (Fig. 3C). CO was higher in group Se Post from the onset and during ischemia (ns) but declined more than ctrl at reperfusion, which resulted in a significant overall difference between the two groups (P = 0.0005; repeated measures ANOVA). RP Ps were not different from the start or during ischemia but were decreased more, and more rapidly, in group Se Post than in ctrl (P values in Fig. 3A F and Table 1). End tidal CO2 values were marginally higher in ctrl than in the Se Post group (not shown), and sevoflurane concentration in group Se Post was intentionally higher. There was no statistical difference in the development in blood temperature. More Details:Heart rate limitation and cardiac unloading in sevoflurane post‐conditioning |
