![]() Efficacy of frequent blood pressure and heart rate monitoring for early identification of bleeding following percutaneous coronary intervention
H Mert, S Seren Intepeler, N Bengu... - ... Journal of Nursing ..., 2012 - Wiley Online Library Monitoring of patients' vital signs is an important component of postpercutaneous coronary intervention (post-PCI) for bleeding early detection. This study was performed in order to identify the efficacy of frequent blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) monitoring for ... [CITATION] 693: The effects of maternal caffeine intake on fetal heart rate and uterine contractions AL Tranquilli, G Buscicchio, M Piemontese... - American Journal of ..., 2012 - Elsevier [HTML] Data were analyzed using SPSS 15.0 (SPSS Inc. Chicago, IL, USA). The demographic data are reported in number and percentages. In order to determine the homogeneity of the group, the difference between the bleeding and non bleeding groups' features was assessed using student t test and chi square tests. Vital sign values were transformed into dichotomous data categorized as normal or abnormal (Table 2). Normal pulse rate was accepted as 60 100/min and normal BP values were accepted as 90/60 mm Hg for diastolic BP and < 90 mm Hg for systolic hypotension.10 Although patients had hypertension history on admission, it was identified the systolic hypertension of over 160 mm Hg. Systolic BP > 160 mm Hg was predictive of increased vascular complication risk.11 The difference between the time points of abnormal findings in BP and HR in the five measurements performed in the first hour (on arrival and at 15, 30, 45 and 60 min) was assessed by chi square test. In order to assess whether the differences between BP and HR value measurements were significant in determining bleeding, logistic regression analysis was used. Logistic regression analysis was performed with bleeding status (yes or no) as the dependent variable and gender, age, history of hypertension and the differences between BP and HR measurements for the initial 15 min intervals as independent variables. Comparison of the mean of systolic, diastolic BP and HR of patients before and during bleeding was assessed by significant analysis of the difference between the two means. Statistical significance level was set at P < 0.05.
