We report the first case of late prosthetic valve endocarditis caused by Mycoplasma hominis in a case of blood culture-negative endocarditis. Our objective is to emphasise the use of broad-range bacterial 16S r RNA gene polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique in identifying the causative pathogen thus enabling targeted antimicrobial treatment.
