A BIG-hearted volunteer, who set up a charity event in memory of her grandfather, is urging others not to take their health for granted.

Amanda Panton, 26, from Stockshill Road Ashby, took up volunteering for the British Heart Foundation after her grandfather, John Panton had a heart attack three years ago at the age of 64.

"When my grandpa died it was very sudden and a shock to everyone," she said.

"We get up every morning and take all of our organs for granted.

"It is easy to overlook how important your heart is until something serious happens to yourself, or someone you love."

Amanda organised a ladies charity rounders match between staff at Love2Love, where she works as a bar assistant and the Frankie and Benny's Restaurant in memory of her grandfather.

The event, which was held at Central Park on June 30, was a huge success and raised more than £130 for the BHF.

"It is a great way for work mates to bond whilst raising money for a terrific cause."
